What We Believe
The Gold Church affirms the 1689 London Baptist Confession as our statement of faith. We believe these standards contain carefully worded summaries of the contents of sacred Scripture. Read about it here.
We at the Gold Church believe that the Five Solas of the Protestant Reformation summarize the basic foundation of the Christian faith.
1. Grace Alone (Sola Gratia)
Salvation is the free gift of God to man. It is given by God’s grace alone and not through any merit on the part of the Christian.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. -Ephesians 2:8-9
2. Faith Alone (Sola Fide)
We are justified in the sight of God purely on the basis of our faith. The atoning sacrifice of Christ leads to righteousness being imputed onto us as sinners.
Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” -Galatians 3:11
3. Christ Alone (Solus Christus)
Christ is the one Mediator between God and man and our salvation is accomplished only through His death and resurrection.
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus -1 Timothy 2:5
4. Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura)
Scripture alone is the only infallible source of divine revelation and the final authority for matters of faith and practice.
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. -2 Timothy 3:16-17
